Manage data profiles
Data profiles help you track and manage the data that is used by your devices, based on the relevant mobile provider data plans.
Data profiles include data enforcement rules and video quality settings, enabling reseller partners to manage the data usage of dashcams and prevent exceeding the data usage limits.
By default, dashcams are assigned a Level 3 profile, unless the reseller partner has a different agreement with Surfsight®. Partners can also assign data profiles for each of their dashcams - for more information, see Assign and reassign data profiles.
Data profiles include:
data enforcement rules, and
video quality settings.
They enable reseller partners to manage the data usage of dashcams and prevent exceeding the data usage limits.
The dashcam data enforcement rules set the following parameters:
The maximum number of video uploads per day. After this threshold is reached, the dashcam sends snapshots for events. If needed, you can retrieve a recording from the time of the event
The maximum number of video uploads per month. After this threshold is reached, the dashcam sends snapshots for events. If needed, you can retrieve a recording from the time of the event
The maximum number of minutes available to view live video streaming from each camera
The default setting allows unlimited video events per day, video events per month, and live video minutes per month.
The dashcam video quality settings set the following parameters:
Recording settings (bitrate, framerate, resolution) for road-facing and in-cab lenss
Live video settings (bitrate, frame rate, and resolution) for road-facing and in-cab lenss
The data enforcement rules are reset on the 1st of every month.
Note
Data profile levels are a portal, rather than device, setting. They are therefore not affected by a factory reset.
For more details about what is included in each data profile, see Data profile options.
